Loki Reviews “Flow” (2024)

Greetings, humans! It is I, Loki, your derpy, goofy, cinema-loving feline, back with another review. Today, I watched Flow, a movie that dares to explore the world of water in all its mysterious, swirling, and—let’s be honest—utterly terrifying forms.

Now, as a cat, I approach water with caution. It’s wet. It’s unpredictable. It has an unsettling ability to sneak up on you when you least expect it (like during an ambush disguised as “bath time”). So, did this movie impress me, or did it leave me scampering for dry land? Let’s dive in—figuratively, of course!

Plot

Flow takes us on an epic journey through a world transformed by water. It’s an environmental adventure, reminding humans of their connection to nature. There’s no typical protagonist, but rather an immersive, poetic storytelling approach that follows the rhythm of the earth. Deep stuff, humans. But tell me, does this film acknowledge the superior intelligence of those who stay on land? No? A slight disappointment.

Visuals

I must admit, the visuals were mesmerizing. The cinematography captured the power and grace of water in ways that made even me, a sworn enemy of the wet stuff, appreciate its beauty. The flowing rivers, rippling oceans, and stormy skies were nothing short of hypnotic. I did attempt to swat at the screen a few times—just making sure those waves weren’t actually creeping into my territory.

Themes – A Cat’s Take on Nature’s Balance

The film is a reminder that water is both life-giving and destructive. Much like how I bring both joy and controlled chaos to my human’s existence. It’s about harmony, adaptation, and the cyclical nature of life. Thought-provoking, indeed. But where is the part about cats being the real masters of balance? We walk on narrow fences with ease!

As Leonardo da Vinci once said, “Water is the driving force of all nature.” But let’s not forget, dear humans, that cats are the driving force of all internet culture. Priorities.

Cat Stars

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Aside from some stereotypes a good movie with a happy ending and lots of purr.
